The AWOS at L O Simenstad Municipal Airport reported a few hours of freezing drizzle. CoCoRaHS observers reported freezing drizzle 2 miles southwest of Frederic and 3 miles northwest of Turtle Lake.
The wider storm
Periods of rain, freezing drizzle, and fog impacted travel conditions overnight Christmas into the early morning of December 26th. The freezing precipitation resulted in light icing, primarily in areas north of I-94, with various reports noting anywhere from a glaze to a few hundredths of ice accumulation. The worst travel conditions from the freezing precipitation were mainly in the first few hours of the day after midnight.
