Event narrative

Station NUCI1 recorded a gust of 66 mph near Wallace 0608 LST. Other gusts recorded in the area ranged from 55 to 59 mph between 06-07 LST. Trees were reported down in St. Maries, Murray, and Smelterville with some causing property damage. 25 trees were downed at a bird sanctuary in St. Maries. Damage cost is estimated.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through Idaho Panhandle early morning on December 17. It brought gusts in the range 60 to 72 mph. Numerous of reports of downed trees and powerlines. One fatality was reported in the Fernan Lake Village area from tree falling on house. Other minor structure damage was reported as some trees fell on houses.
