Coeur D'Alene airport recorded a gust of 66 mph at 0554 LST. Mesonet station 9649 at Black Lake recorded a gust of 59 mph 0545 LST. Several reports received of downed trees from Coeur D'Alene, Huetter, and Chatcolet areas. One fatality reported by a tree falling on house and striking occupant in Fernan Lake Village. Damage cost is estimated.

The wider storm

A strong cold front moved through Idaho Panhandle early morning on December 17. It brought gusts in the range 60 to 72 mph. Numerous of reports of downed trees and powerlines. One fatality was reported in the Fernan Lake Village area from tree falling on house. Other minor structure damage was reported as some trees fell on houses.
