Event narrative

The observer located 4 miles south of Centerville measured 6 inches of snow, as did a spotter in Miamisburg. A NWS employee located 3 miles north-northwest of Springboro measured 5.5 inches of accumulation. Lighter snow amounts were found in the northern two-thirds of the county, where 3.5 to 4 inches was common, including 3.7 inches measured at the Dayton airport KDAY.

A strong low pressure system moving through the Ohio Valley produced widespread snowfall during the afternoon and evening hours of Saturday, December 13, associated with the passage of an Arctic air mass.
