Severe (D2) Drought would prevail across the western and southern portions of Jim Hogg County, with an area of Extreme (D3) Drought across northeastern portions of the County, to the edge of Hebbronville, through the 22nd.

Modest rainfall, seasonably dry even for the typical dry season across the southern tip of Texas, persisted through December and maintained areas of Severe (D2) to Extreme (D3) Drought in Kenedy, Brooks, Jim Hogg, far northern Hidalgo, Starr, and Zapata County.
