Event narrative

Mesonet sites in Walsh County reported several hours of Blizzard conditions, including 1/4 mile visibility and wind gusts ranging from 35 to 43 mph.

Wider weather episode

A clipper type system brought light to moderate snowfall generally ranging from 2 to 5 inches to parts of eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, followed by gusty winds. There was one lightly localized area of heavier snow greater than 6 inches in far southeast Cass and northeast Richland county. The most frequent wind gusts of 35 mph or higher remained in far eastern Richland county in southeast North Dakota where blizzard conditions were observed. Near blizzard conditions were observed elsewhere in eastern North Dakota.
