Strong winds developed in the wake of a cold front across western Massachusetts from the late afternoon hours on January 11 to the early morning hours on January 12, 2026. Peak wind gusts over 50 mph were observed in some locations including a 52 mph wind gust at the North Adams Harriman-and-West Airport and 59 mph at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport.
