The Mesonet station PSGT2 at Pinery measured intermittent high wind gusts during the afternoon and evening, including a 61 mph gust. The total time of occurrence is partially estimated.
The wider storm
A developing surface lee cyclone and a strong jet aloft yielded gusty southwesterly to westerly winds on the 17th. High winds were recorded at various locations across southeast New Mexico and in/around the higher terrain of west Texas.
