The ASOS station KCNM Carlsbad measured instances of high winds for about an hour and a half, including a 60 mph wind gust.

The wider storm

A developing surface lee cyclone and a strong jet aloft yielded gusty southwesterly to westerly winds on the 17th. High winds were recorded at various locations across southeast New Mexico and in/around the higher terrain of west Texas.
