Wider weather episode

West to northwest flow off Lake Ontario supported the development of lake-effect snow showers across north-central New York from Friday the 2nd through Saturday the 3rd. The primary snow band initially set up over northern Oneida County Friday morning before shifting south into Onondaga County later in the day. Snowfall rates reached as high as 2 inches per hour for an extended period. The lake-effect snow band gradually weakened and diminished late Saturday night as the wind direction shifted.
