Event narrative

A multi-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 10 in Kimble County around 6:30 pm on January 24th, near mile marker 470, due to icy road conditions. There was one fatality. Also, there was a light glaze of ice across Kimble County due to freezing rain/sleet.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm brought sleet/snow to much of west central Texas. Some freezing rain resulted in a light glaze of ice across the Northwest Hill Country. The snow/sleet amounts ranged from 1 to 4 inches across the northern 2/3 of the area. The winter storm caused disruptions to travel and one fatality due to an accident on Interstate 10 east of Junction.
