High Wind in Davis Mountains Foothills, Texas
High Wind March 15, 2026 · Davis Mountains Foothills, Texas
What the National Weather Service wrote
The West Texas Mesonet station 167 Toyahvale 13W measured intermittent high winds, including a 61 mph wind gust.
The wider storm
An upper-level trough moved across the Plains during the morning of the 15th. West Texas and southeast New Mexico ended up on the southern end of the trough close to the attendant jet. As a result, high winds were recorded in/around the Guadalupe Mountains in the early morning hours. Later in the morning and into the afternoon, a front pushed through the area. This yielded a brief period of high wind gusts at KMAF. Downsloping winds also yielded high winds at the Toyavale Mesonet site.
