Buoy station GISL1 on Grand Isle measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 50 mph or 43 knots.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved east across the coastal waters of southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi during the morning of January 25th. A line of showers and thunderstorms developed along and just ahead of the front within a moist and moderately unstable airmass. As the line progressed eastward, embedded cells within this line produced severe wind gusts at multiple locations of the local marine areas.
