In the wake of the clipper snow, scattered snow showers and localized snow squalls pushed across eastern New York during the late morning and afternoon hours on January 22, 2026 along and just behind a cold front. One such squall brought very low visibilities to southern Herkimer County. Thereafter, lake effect snow developed across the southern Adirondacks during the afternoon hours on January 22 and continued into the afternoon hours on January 23 before diminishing. Localized snowfall amounts greater than 7 inches occurred within the most persistent lake effect bands mainly north of Route 28.
