Event narrative

The observer located 6 miles west-northwest of Burlington measured 10.7 inches of snow. The CVG airport recorded 10.2 inches. For the 25th, the 9.2 inches measured at CVG broke the previous record of 5.8 inches, set in 2004.

Wider weather episode

A strong winter storm began Saturday night and continued through Sunday as it passed over an entrenched arctic airmass. A strengthening surface low over the Tennessee Valley combined with upper level dynamics to produce snowfall up to ten inches in some areas.
