China Peak Mountain Resort website. Estimated 60-72 inches of snowfall in last 24 hours.

The wider storm

A series of storms brought abundant rain and mountain snow. Rainfall totals ranged from around one to two inches in the San Joaquin Valley for the period. Snow levels were initially around 5,500 to 6,000 feet but lowered by the night of the 17th into the morning of the 18th. Light snow accumulations occurred as low as 1,500 feet in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and at least a couple of inches accumulated in many of the foothill communities. In addition, the snow caused road closures in the mountains from Yosemite to Kern County. Gusty winds accompanied the passage of each system, and wind gusts reached 25-40 mph in many valley locations. Precipitation continued until the morning of the 20th, though it was mainly light. Colder than normal temperatures took place after the precipitation ended.
