For the second time in a week, a winter storm impacted the Piedmont and foothills of South Carolina as an area of low pressure intensified across the Deep South. In this case, the bulk of the precipitation fell as snow. Snow began falling during the pre-dawn hours of the 31st and continued through much of the day. By the time the snow tapered off during the evening, 4 to 7 inches were reported across much of the area, with locally higher amounts east of I-77.
