For the second time in a week, a winter storm impacted the Piedmont and foothills of northeast Georgia as an area of low pressure intensified across the Deep South. In this case, the bulk of the precipitation fell as snow. Snow began falling during the pre-dawn hours of the 31st and continued through much of the day. By the time the snow tapered off during the evening, 4 to 7 inches with locally higher amounts were reported.
