Event narrative

Freezing rain began during the afternoon on the 24th. A spotter reported 0.05 of ice accumulation in Bulverde and the Emergency Manager reported icy spots on I-35 in New Braunfels.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
