Freezing rain began during the evening on the 24th. A CoCoRaHS observer in Muldoon reported total ice accumulation of 0.08.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
