A mix of sleet and freezing rain began during the morning of the 24th. The morning of the 25th a CoCoRaHS observer reported 0.8 of sleet in Burnet. The Burnet Municipal Airport Kate Craddock Field ASOS reported 0.09 of ice.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
