Event narrative
A mix of sleet and freezing rain began during the morning of the 24th. The Emergency Manager reported 0.5 of sleet accumulation in Kerrville by the morning of the 25th. TXDoT reported 0.1 of ice on roads in the county including I-10 northwest of Kerrville.
Wider weather episode
A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
