A mix of sleet and freezing rain began during the afternoon of the 24th. Storm total accumulations included 0.1 of sleet at the NWS office in New Braunfels, 0.08 of ice at the ASOS at the New Braunfels National Airport, and 0.08 of ice in Geronimo.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
