A mix of sleet and freezing rain began during the evening of the 24th. Storm total accumulations included 0.03 of ice at Del Rio International Airport and 0.3 of sleet in Del Rio.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
