Event narrative

A mix of sleet and freezing rain began during the evening of the 24th. There were some icy patches on Hwy 277 in Eagle Pass along with a light glazing on elevated metal surfaces, overall impacts were insignificant.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper-level low moved across northern Mexico bringing a strong cold front through South-Central Texas. This resulted in very cold air in the boundary layer with a layer of above freezing air aloft which produced sleet and freezing rain.
