A strong cold front brought in freezing temperatures to the Northern Ranchlands from northern Jim Hogg to Kenedy County on January 18-19. The front followed a prolonged stretch of unseasonably warm weather through the 9th, then a period of near-average conditions from the 10th-17th. On January 19th, the combination of the cold airmass and strong radiational cooling resulted in freezing temperatures.
