Event narrative

A significant snow fell across Greene County, with 12.5 inches of snow reported in Greeneville. Additional observations include 9 inches in Mosheim, 7.9 inches in Midway, 10.5 inches on the south side of Greeneville, and 12 inches closer to the Smokies. The cooperative observer reported 12.8 inches, which would be the 8th highest two-day snowstorm in the station's 135 year history.

Wider weather episode

A significant snowstorm struck portions of East Tennessee at the end of the month, thanks to strong lift from a deep upper trough diving from north to south. A couple of long term cooperative weather stations saw top 10 snowfalls during this storm. This storm led to 3 confirmed fatalities in East Tennessee.
