A thunderstorm produced an estimated wind gust to 34 knots (39 MPH) near the ASOS at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station (KNHK) adjacent to the tidal Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.

The wider storm

A cold front slowly dropping in from the north triggered scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms in an unseasonably warm airmass. A few of the storms produced gale-force wind gusts over the waters, both during the afternoon and with a second wave in the evening.
