Heavy Snow March 14, 2026 – March 15, 2026 · Grant, South Dakota
The wider storm
A system brought locally heavy snow and strong winds ranging from 45 to 55 mph to northeast South Dakota. Due to deteriorating conditions on March 14th, Interstate 29 north of Watertown and several highways across the northeast and north central parts of the state were closed. The COOP observer 1 mile southwest of Clear Lake recorded 8 inches of snow, while the CoCoRaHS observer in La Bolt measured a total of 6.2 inches.
Falling snow ended before the winds increased, resulting in only intermittent, short-lived blizzard conditions. The Andover COOP and a CoCoRaHS observer 6 miles southwest of Gary reported near-blizzard conditions at the time of their observations.
