Event narrative

Heavy rain overwhelmed a culvert causing water to flow over the roadway on Highway 128 near Highway 1. Approximately two inches of water was over the roadway in both lanes.

Wider weather episode

After a prolonged period of light to moderate rainfall across the two counties, a strong atmospheric river brought heavy rain to the area on January 5th. This resulted in numerous reports of flooding and closed highways, particularly in the two county area.
