A squall produced an estimated wind gust to 34 knots (39 MPH) near the AWOS at Quantico Marine Base (KNYG) adjacent to the tidal Potomac River.

A cold front was accompanied by a narrow band of heavier squalls embedded within a larger area of light to moderate stratiform rain. These squalls resulted in several gale-force wind gusts as the front crossed the waters.
