The wider storm

A windy day was observed on February 20th across northeast Kentucky in response to a cold front and strong winds mixing down in its wake. The front itself passed through around midday and unveiled a gusty afternoon and evening before winds settled down after sunset. A gust of 40 knots was measured at the Boyd County Emergency Operations Center in Ashland during the early afternoon. Multiple downed trees were noted that afternoon across portions of Greenup and Boyd Counties as a result of the strong winds.
