Extreme Cold/Wind Chill in Northern Litchfield, Connecticut
Extreme Cold/Wind Chill February 7, 2026 – February 8, 2026 · Northern Litchfield, Connecticut
The wider storm
A strong cold front crossed northwestern Connecticut during the morning hours on February 7, 2026, ushering in an arctic air mass which remained in place through the morning hours on February 9, 2026.
The combination of gusty winds and air temperatures falling below zero (as low as 10 degrees below zero in spots) resulted in wind chill values (feels-like temperatures) to fall to between 15 and 30 degrees below zero for many areas during the afternoon or evening hours on February 7 into the morning hours on February 8.
Despite less wind, cold conditions persisted once again during the overnight hours on February 8 into the morning hours on February 9 with air temperatures falling to the low single digits above zero to as low as 5 below zero leading to wind chill values (feels-like temperatures) between 10 and 20 degrees below zero.
