Winter Weather in St. Clair, Alabama

Winter Weather March 16, 2026 · St. Clair, Alabama

What the National Weather Service wrote

Up to a half inch to one inch of snow fell across St. Clair County, especially the northern and western portions. Accumulation was mainly limited to elevated and grassy surfaces.

The wider storm

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms ahead of a potent cold front pushed through Central Alabama from late March 15 into the early morning of March 16. Scattered instances of wind damage were observed across many counties in Central Alabama as the line moved through. After a significant temperature reduction, a band of snow developed during the late morning hours, with counties such as Winston, Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, Etowah, and St. Clair picking up 0.5 to 1.5 inches of accumulation. With warm ground and road temperatures, the snow quickly method and travel impacts were little to none.
