Blizzard in Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, Alaska
Blizzard February 13, 2026 · Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, Alaska
What the National Weather Service wrote
The Toksook Bay ASOS (PAOO) observed a several hour period of blizzard conditions (Visibility less than or equal to 1/4 statute miles, winds gusting to around 35 mph, and blowing snow) from 9:30 AM to 3:21 PM AKST on Feb 13. Temperatures warmed afterwards and precipitation transitioned to freezing rain.
The wider storm
A front atop a ridge in the East Bering moved into the Southwest Alaska Mainland, bringing a swath of precipitation and gusty southerly winds. The southerly winds brought about warm air advection, causing temperatures to increase. However, before temperatures rose above freezing in the Kuskokwim Delta, the gusty winds with the front allowed for a period of blizzard conditions in the Kuskokwim Delta Coast on February 13.
