A 19-year-old man drowned off an unguarded portion on the northern part of Island Beach State Park in Ocean County on the morning of August 1st. His 57-year-old father was unable to rescue him. His father had to be hospitalized after barely making it out of the water. About 75 people were involved in rescue efforts.
