Social media post showed sign damage at the El Paso Trading Post 1 mile southeast of Anthony. There was also a fallen tree in an apartment complex along Shadow Mountain Drive in El Paso reported by an off-duty NWS employee.

The wider storm

A strong surface high was building into the northern and central Rockies. This high pushed a back door cold front into far west Texas with wind gusts on the back side of it reaching at least 65 mph with several reports of damage in the El Paso area.
