The wider storm
A warm front approaching from the south initiated convection and resulted in a round of scattered showers and thunderstorms moving northward from northern WV to the I-70 corridor. Model soundings suggested overall weak convection, however, one overperforming cell that had rotation along the warm front resulted in several reports of hail in the relatively low CAPE environment, with the largest observed being one inch.
