What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The first of three EF1 tornadoes within the Pleasant Grove area

began near or just before the Jones/Wayne County border along

Cleve Blackledge Road producing minor tree damage. The tornado

remained solely between Cleve Blackledge Road and Pleasant Grove

Road. It reached its strongest point just prior to reaching

Pleasant Grove Road where it caused significant tree damage

evident on Sentinel 2 satellite imagery. A small building to the

south of Cleve Blackledge Road also sustained significant damage

visible on the satellite imagery but was likely associated with

intense RFD winds rounding the south side of the tornado as

debris was thrown towards the southeast.

The wider storm

A strong cold front moved across the area with a line of showers and thunderstorms. The storms produced several tornadoes and gusty winds across southeast Mississippi.

Began near Eucutta (31.7187, -88.9433).
