High Wind April 1, 2026 – April 2, 2026 · Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Texas
What the National Weather Service wrote
The West Texas Mesonet station 60 Pine Springs GMNP measured a period of high winds, including gusts up to 66 mph.
The wider storm
A dryline set up over central portions of the Permian Basin, extending southward towards the Big Bend. A nearby shortwave encouraged thunderstorm development east of this dryline. A couple of thunderstorms produced severe winds in the Permian Basin. Meanwhile, strong winds aloft coupled with the passage of a Pacific front allowed for high winds in the Guadalupe Mountains and in far northern portions of Lea County in SE New Mexico.
