Winter Weather February 20, 2026 – February 21, 2026 · Northern Litchfield, Connecticut

What the National Weather Service wrote

Zone average snowfall of 1.4 inches.

The wider storm

A low pressure system tracking through the Great Lakes lifted a series of fronts through northwest Connecticut, resulting in widespread precipitation from Friday, February 20 through Saturday, February 21, 2026. Warming temperatures led to a mix of both rain and snow during this event with some short-duration sleet and freezing rain.

The highest accumulations of snow fell across northern portions of Litchfield County where 0.5 to about 2 inches were reported. For the southern portion of the county, generally a trace to 0.5 were common. Fortunately, freezing rain accumulations were more apparent based on radar products rather than in ground-truth observations so little in the way of impacts occurred due to ice accretion.

Key impacts: traffic accidents.
