Strong Wind February 2, 2026 · Western Interior, Puerto Rico
What the National Weather Service wrote
Non-thunderstorm winds caused minor damage in San Sebastin during the late morning of February 2, 2026. A fallen tree partially obstructed PR-119 near kilometer 30 in Barrio Hoya Mala, in the vicinity of a gas station. The incident impacted roadway access and required removal operations.
The wider storm
A frontal boundary interacting with southerly flow produced a period of heavy rainfall across Puerto Rico from February 2 through February 4, 2026. Abundant moisture and an advective pattern supported widespread showers and periods of moderate to heavy rainfall across the region.
Significant rainfall amounts fell across portions of PR. These conditions resulted in urban and small-stream flooding, localized flash flooding, and minor landslides, particularly across the interior, southern, and western parts of Puerto Rico. Elevated streamflows were observed, with some rivers reaching action stage.
