Drought in Woodford, Illinois

Drought April 1, 2026 – April 7, 2026 · Woodford, Illinois

What the National Weather Service wrote

Severe Drought (D2) was ongoing at the start of the month as the result of a multi-month precipitation deficit spanning October 2025 to February 2026. However, above normal precipitation occurred in March and the active pattern persisted into early April. The continued wet conditions led to Severe Drought ending.

The wider storm

A multi-month precipitation deficit from Fall of 2025 to February of 2026 led to widespread Severe Drought (D2) conditions developing across central Illinois. However, above normal rainfall during March 2026 led to substantial improvements in the drought conditions, to the point that only a few counties had lingering Severe Drought entering the month of April. A continued active pattern led to the eradication of Severe Drought area-wide early in April.
