Winter Weather in Logan, West Virginia
Winter Weather February 22, 2026 – February 24, 2026 · Logan, West Virginia
The wider storm
A strong low pressure system brought one more strong burst of snow to West Virginia before the winter season began winding down from February 22nd to the 24th. As the storm arrived from the south, it received help from colder temperatures pressing down from the Great Lakes region. Unseasonably warm temperatures in the days leading up to this event allowed for initial precipitation to fall as rain for most locations before changing over to a wintry mix shortly after midnight on February 22nd. As temperatures continued to plummet down before freezing, precipitation changed fully over to snow. Intermittent breaks in snow showers continued for the next 24 hours, promoting significant snow accumulations along the spine of the Appalachians ranging between 12 to 20 inches along the westward facing ridgetops, while only 1 to 3 inches of snow fell in the West Virginia lowlands. The storm tracked to the east during the early morning hours of February 24th, bringing this winter event to an end.
