What the National Weather Service wrote

A portion of Santiago Palmer Sur Street in Guayama was closed after heavy rainfall caused the collapse of a brick wall in the area. Based on radar estimates, between 2 and 3 inches of rain fell in the area during the day. For safety reasons, the damaged structure was removed, and work was carried out in the zone. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.

The wider storm

A frontal boundary interacting with southerly flow produced a period of heavy rainfall across Puerto Rico from February 2 through February 4, 2026. Abundant moisture and an advective pattern supported widespread showers and periods of moderate to heavy rainfall across the region.

Significant rainfall amounts fell across portions of PR. These conditions resulted in urban and small-stream flooding, localized flash flooding, and minor landslides, particularly across the interior, southern, and western parts of Puerto Rico. Elevated streamflows were observed, with some rivers reaching action stage.

Began near Guayama (17.9873, -66.1131).
