Two small boats capsized in strong winds off the east coast of Cape Cod. A few minutes later, the weatherflow reporting station at Wellfleet recorded a wind gust of 52 mph.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved through southern New England, producing showers and thunderstorms that became severe as they moved across southeastern Massachusetts. Large hail and damaging winds affected southeast Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the waters off the Cape. A strong microburst produced significant damage in Acushnet.
