Lake-Effect Snow in Northern Oneida, New York
Lake-Effect Snow March 17, 2026 – March 18, 2026 · Northern Oneida, New York
What the National Weather Service wrote
Snow accumulated between 4 and 10 inches.
The wider storm
Lake-effect snow showers developed Tuesday afternoon on the 17th as westerly flow was in place and colder air moved into the regio. By early evening, a passing upper disturbance shifted winds to the northwest, allowing a lake-to-lake connection between Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, and Lake Ontario and helping maintain lake-effect snow across portions of the area. A general 6 to 11 inches of snow fell over the Southern Tug Hill Plateau. High pressure ridging built in early Wednesday morning, bringing an end to the lake-effect snow around sunrise of the 18th.
