The wider storm
A low pressure system passed through the Intermountain West overnight on March 2, bringing with it showers of rain to northwestern Colorado. Moisture pooled within valleys and lingered into the morning of March 4, at which point a transient ridge moved overhead, clearing skies and calming winds. This prompted dense fog to develop within the Yampa River Basin which persisted beyond sunrise.
