Drought in Tippecanoe, Indiana
Drought April 1, 2026 – April 7, 2026 · Tippecanoe, Indiana
What the National Weather Service wrote
April began with Severe Drought (D2) in extreme north-central parts of the county, but following 2.80 to 3.30 inches of rainfall in only 1 week, on April 7th this area improved two drought intensity levels to Abnormally Dry (D0).
The wider storm
Prolonged Extreme Drought (D3) had been present across much of far northern central Indiana, including most of Carroll County, since the January 6th 2026 update, with all of Carroll County and northern Tippecanoe County also falling into D3 between the March 3rd and March 17th updates. All of these areas improved to Severe Drought (D2) on March 24th, with further improvement occurring on March 31st when the area of D2 decreased to only portions of Carroll County near and north-northwest of Camden, and extreme north-centeral Tippecanoe County.
This final patch of D2 across central Indiana's northern-most one percent, lingered amid very heavy rainfall of 2.20 to 3.60 inches during a one-week period through the early morning of April 7th. The corresponding weekly update saw this area undergo a rare two-intensity-level downgrade to D0 (Abnormally Dry).
