Winter Weather March 17, 2026 · Clarion, Pennsylvania
What the National Weather Service wrote
PennDOT camera on I-80 at Clarion showed less than a quarter mile visibility with rapid accumulation on roadways in a snow squall.
The wider storm
Ahead of an arctic cold front arriving from the northwest, heavy snow showers and embedded snow squalls developed across western Pennsylvania. Low level lapse rates up to 7.5 C/km, a saturated DGZ, and a pressure fall/rise couplet supported convective snow showers dropping visibility to near zero and putting a quick accumulation on area roadways including major interstates.
